-Chandler- Coffee Shop @ Downtown Greensboro

Yesterday, I visited Chandler, a newly transformed coffee shop in downtown Greensboro. This spot, formerly known as The Green Bean, carries a rich history as a popular gathering place. Under new ownership, the space has been revamped and now offers coffee and alcohol, adding an exciting twist to the experience.

When I arrived, I was greeted by a bustling, lively atmosphere filled with young professionals working and chatting. The barista was incredibly kind and recommended Earl Grey tea, which I paired with an everything bagel and cream cheese. The total cost was $7.32—very reasonable.

One feature that stood out was their giant digital menu monitor. It's a smart addition, making it easy to see the offerings and allowing for quick updates—a great touch for a modern coffee shop.

After about an hour and a half, I started feeling chilly because the back door leading to the patio kept opening, creating a draft. I decided to change my seat and found a cozy chair near an outlet—a definite bonus for anyone planning to work for a while. The seating options here are versatile, with both functional and comfortable choices.

As I settled into my new spot, I realized the bathrooms are all gender-neutral, a thoughtful and inclusive touch. Feeling the need for something warm, I returned to the barista. Unsure of what to order, I appreciated her friendly suggestion. She happened to be making hot chocolate and generously offered me some extra she had prepared while I decided. It was a delightful surprise—perfectly balanced and not overly sweet.

One exciting discovery was learning that Chandler has been under its new ownership since July 3rd and is already making waves in the community. Their Facebook page is very active, showcasing a variety of weekly events, such as jazz night jam sessions, dance sessions, singing sessions, improv, and more. It’s clear that this family-operated coffee shop is dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment. They’ve added not only alcohol to the menu but also CBD and THC drinks, along with some great food options.

Browsing through Yelp reviews, it’s evident that many visitors share a similar positive impression of the space. Highlights from reviewers include praise for the friendly staff, the inclusive atmosphere, and the quality of drinks and food. There are also mentions of the beautiful art displayed on the walls and the comfortable seating that suits both social and work purposes.

However, I noticed that Chandler doesn’t have an official website. While their active Facebook and Instagram accounts are full of updates and event information, it makes me wonder if relying solely on social media is enough in today’s digital age. A website could serve as a centralized hub for menus, event schedules, and general information, making it even easier for customers to engage with the coffee shop.

The atmosphere is inspiring and adaptable. It’s quieter in the mornings, perfect for work, and livelier in the afternoons and evenings, ideal for socializing. I’m already planning to return for one of their evening events to experience the vibrant community feel they’ve cultivated.

For a first visit, Chandler left a fantastic impression. Whether you’re looking for a spot to work, relax, or enjoy live entertainment, this coffee shop has something for everyone.
